8/23/2017 1 Comment Lunch in ManhattanAfter doing a bit of online sleuthing (aka putting off summer homework), I had two places planned for a short lunch in Manhattan. Both places were reasonably close to Grand Central Station, and both relatively inexpensive compared to other food joints in New York. Shake Shack, 3rd avenue You’ve probably heard of Shake Shack, it is known for frozen custard and burgers, shockingly. It’s not terribly expensive either, which I am grateful for; my lunch total came to around 10 dollars, including a vanilla shake. The interior of the restaurant is very hip and friendly, though the seating is quite limited. There are two long, narrow tables that run down the dining area if you can’t snag a table, however there is no seating. Lady m, 36 west 40th The name is fancy, the shop is white and pristine, and the cakes are divine. When walking past, it is a quiet shopfront. In fact, you may even miss it if you’re not careful to notice the cakes on display inside. Once you walk in, you’ll notice that the shop is very small, and it feels a bit cramped if many people are there. You can wait in line to be seated at a table, or you can get in a different line to purchase your cake to-go. The entire cakes are quite expensive, and a 9 inch cheesecake will set you back 70.00 dollars! Thankfully, single slices are far less expensive, and I got a chocolate eclair and a slice of raspberry-chocolate cake for 12.00 dollars. I headed to Bryant park, and chose a small table in the shade to eat. It was absolutely delicious! The chocolate was silky and indulgent, and the raspberry puree was tangy and rich.
